Update of CONAI Environmental Contribution for 2022

CONAI board decides on a further reduction of the environmental contribution for plastic packaging from January 2022

From 1 January 2022 the environmental contribution of almost all plastic packaging will be further reduced, compared to what was already indicated in August, by CONAI, due to the sustained development of secondary raw material prices.

Range reductions for plastic packaging

The confirmation of the positive trend in the values of secundary raw materials has made it possible to reduce the Conai Environmental Contribution for almost all plastic packaging.

Below are the changes to the contributions associated with each range, which will take effect from 1 January 2022

  • RANGE A1 (rigid and flexible packaging with a well establieshed and effective industrial sorting and recygling chain, mainly managed in closed Trade & Industry circuits): the contribution will be reduced from the current 150 to 104 €/tonne;
  • RANGE B1 (packaging with an effective and consolidated industrial sorting and recycling chain, mainly from the domestic circuit): the fee will decrease from 208 to 149 €/tonne;
  • RANGE B2 (other packaging that can be sorted/recycled by the household and/or trade/industrial sector): the fee will decrease from 560 to €520 per tonne;
  • RANGE C (packaging with ongoing experimental sorting/recycling activities or which cannot be sorted/recycled using current technology): this will decrease form the current 660 to 642€/tonne.

In order to make it easier for our customers to recognise the packaging purchased in the respective categories, we provide the list drawn up by CONAI.
