RAI3 SERVICE ON SORTED WASTE COLLECTION IN LAVELLO (PZ)

PLASTISAC SUPPLIED BAGS WITH TAG-RFID TO ASTEA

The Basilicata regional newscast dedicated a TV report to an experimental project implemented in Lavello (PZ) where, for sorted waste collection, Plastisac supplied polyethylene bags equipped with TAG-Rfid.

In a small town in Basilicata, in September 2017, an experiment was launched involving a new method of collecting waste. In fact, about 700 families in the Municipality of Lavello in the province of Potenza, ASTEA Multiservizi, the municipal company that manages waste collection, were supplied with new polyethylene bags made by PLASTISAC for sorted waste disposal. These bags are equipped with a particular tracking system by TAG-Rfid which, through an optical reader, is associated to a specific user. In this way, at the time of collection, the garbage truck equipped with a special reader via radio frequency, identifies the bag, weighs it and assesses a customized waste collection fee based on effective consumption. As a result, individual users can actually pay “on consumption”, namely, based on how much they effectively use. This technology was immediately met with great enthusiasm, and will soon be extended to other neighboring municipalities.
